India-UK Deal Shields Mass Market Segment, Run for Luxury Cars

The Mumbai-Indian manufacturer will reduce the duties on the United Kingdom’s high-end car under the free-wide agreement on Thursday while protecting the Mass-Market Department that receives the global grounds.

The explanatory note published by the Commerce Ministry states that “there are about Rs 46 lakh (about Rs 46 lakh including cost, insurance and freight), where Indian automakers are extremely active, they have been clearly excluded from any duty concession,” the Commerce Ministry said in an explanatory note announced.

This agreement will benefit a luxury car brand such as Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, McCalline, Lotus, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and BMW Mini.

Under the consensus financial and trade agreement (CETA), India will gradually reduce customs duties for high-flowing specific quota in five years. For the outer imports of the coat, the duty cut will be limited to 50% compared to 10 years.


Significantly, no duties will be exempted from EV, hybrid or hydrogen-dried vehicles in the first five years of contract. “MSME in this area will benefit from improved access to the UK market and generous trade terms,” he called the FTA a “forward -looking agreement” for the auto eco -ecosystem.
